London Excel centre saw the worlds travel destinations come together again for the annual World Travel Market conference. As a first time attendee to the conference, I was impressed with the event. With wanderlust for travel, the exhibitors welcomed me into their countries with brightly coloured stands, familiar tourist sites and an array of travel options.
SWAAâ€™s President Elaine Okeke Martin and Advisor Denzil Philips both participated in the round table discussion for WTM Africa. A building dialog which concentrated on ways to get more visitors to Africa. Positive ideas such as visaâ€™s, culture tourism, taking ownership in Africa, endorsements from celebrities and increasing the knowledge for what is possible were some of the topics brought up at the round table.
Though the Spa and Wellness industry is relatively new to WTM, that didnâ€™t stop Spafinder Wellness, the worldâ€™s largest media, marketing and gifting company for the wellness industry, from holding a well attended Spa Awards show during the conference. Several countries such as Egypt also highlighted their Spa and Wellness offerings by creating their own dedicated brochure.
The third evening of the conference gave opportunity for various countries to showcase what makes their country special and unique. Countries like Cuba, Trinidad &Tobago and Uganda put on musical and dance performances with live bands and traditional dancers. Each country displayed their local cuisine and cocktails, giving attendees a taste of culture and what to expect. Social networking was the agenda of the evening.
As an event, WTM brings the world to you, gives travel inspiration and provides the opportunity to network and build contacts within the travel industry. With seminars, talks and daily events, thereâ€™s enough to keep you busy from start to finish. The event will be taking place again next year from 7 â€“ 9 November 2016.
